Éirigh, 2026

£145.00 / Sold Out

Hand embroidery and various threads on Irish linen | One-off work |

Éirigh (Irish for "rise" or "emerge") reflects the quiet movement from winter into spring.

After the long, darker months, the early days of spring bring a subtle shift in light. The mornings arrive a little earlier, and the colour of the sky at sunrise begins to warm again. In Ireland at this time of year, there is often a soft glow in the early morning light that signals the slow return of the growing season.

The linen background of this piece carries something of that colour and feeling, recalling the gentle warmth of sunrise on spring mornings. It suggests a moment of emergence, the earth waking again after winter, seeds stirring beneath the soil, and the gradual return of energy and growth.

The embroidery is worked using a mixture of wool and various other threads. Some are naturally dyed, while others are vintage threads sourced from charity shops, bringing together materials with their own histories.

This is a unique work. There are no reproductions, no editions, made by hand.
