Fréamhacha 2025
£300.00
Hand embroidery and print on Irish linen | One-off work | 21 cm by 24 cm
Fréamhacha is the Irish word for roots, a quiet word that holds everything: connection, nourishment, survival, and unseen strength.
This piece is a celebration of my deepening love for plants, especially those I’ve begun growing myself, many of which I've started from seed, in my first garden. The work was made during a time of learning, digging (or rather, not digging), and spending long, grounding hours among soil and stems.
I’ve been thinking a lot about how soil life, roots, and plants form symbiotic relationships, how everything beneath the surface is just as alive and active as what blooms above. Gardening, like embroidery, offers rhythm, metaphor, and a place to rest your attention. I find both practices equally cathartic.
Fréamhacha 2025 was stitched slowly, using antique and naturally dyed threads on Irish linen. Each mark speaks to the quiet intelligence of plants and the life lessons to be learned through the art of embroidery and gardening.
This is a unique work. There are no reproductions, no editions, only this one piece, made by hand.
