Peirsil 2025

Ink print and hand embroidery on vintage Irish linen | Naturally dyed silk threads (ivy, alder, willow) | One-off work | cm × cm

Peirsil is the Irish word for "parsley". This piece began with the simple joy of planting my first herb garden this summer, including rosemary, parsley and thyme growing easily and abundantly, in contrast to the more challenging adventure of starting a vegetable patch (help!). Watching the herbs take root, thrive, and attract bees and other pollinators became a small daily ritual, a reminder of how food and taste can bring people together.

Parsley holds dual meanings, once a symbol of mourning and the underworld, laid in wreaths on graves, yet also a herb associated with cleansing, nourishment, and renewal. It's been my most useful and hard-working herb this year.

Artist's note: A reminder of how the gentle rhythms of a garden teach us to slow down, rest and eat delicious food (when possible).

This is a unique work. There are no reproductions, no editions, made by hand.

Made in Ireland.

Peirsil 2025 will arrive unframed on a mounting board ready for framing.

It will be posted within three working days.
