Feamainn 2025

£95.00 / Sold Out

Ink print with hand embroidery on Irish linen | One-off work | 25 cm × 19 cm

Feamainn is one of the Irish words for seaweed. This piece was made using seaweed gathered at Malin Head, at the northern edge of Inishowen, a place I lived for a time and return to often in memory. The seaweed was collected and printed there, becoming part of a body of work shaped by walking, noticing, and spending time along that coastline.

Printed onto Irish linen in a natural hessian tone, the seaweed form is then hand-embroidered, allowing texture, line and slow mark-making to build over the initial print. The process becomes a way of holding onto place, of recording the quiet rhythm of beach walks, the changing shoreline, and the sense of being present in such a beautiful, wild landscape.

This work is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece, made slowly and entirely by hand.

The artwork arrives unframed on a mounting board, ready for framing.
